Hi, today we are going to see how to create a beautiful android honeycomb logo. The steps used here are very simple, but the logo itslef has very unique design in itself, and the color combination makes it further more beautiful. I thank them whosoever designed it. Ok now lets move on ot the tutorial.
STEP-1 Open a new document with width 600px and height 600 px.
STEP-2 In this step we are going to create the head part, take the elliptical tool and draw a shape as seen in the image below.
STEP-3 Now pick the rectangle tool, select the vector mask thumbnail of that layer, once you have selected it, below the menu bar use the option subtract from shape area option and cut the shape into half to give the desired shape.
STEP-4 Again using the rounded rectangle tool draw a small line for antennae, place it accordingly, now press CTRL+J to duplicate the layer, again press CTRL+T to transform, right click upon the transform area and select the option flip vertical. This will rotate the antennae to other side, now move it towards the other side.
STEP-5 Now select all the three layer simultaneously, that means the head layer and two antennae layer and press CTRL+E to flatten the image.
STEP-6 Now double click on this layer. That is, the layer which you flattened now, this will bring up the layer style window, once the windows appears, apply the following layer style values.
STEP-7 In this step we are going to create the body part, for that use the rounded rectangle tool with the radius of 5cm. Once you have draw the shape, its time again to reapeat STEP-3. Here cut the upper part of the body.
This is how it will look.
STEP-8 Double click on the body layer to bring up the layer style window, now apply the following layer style values as below. Here I have used GRADIENT OVERLAY and OUTER GLOW.
STEP-9 Now using the rounded rectangle tool, draw another body shaped shape upon the body with the color black, but let it be little smaller than the original body shape, select the vector mask thumbnail of this layer, then using rectangle tool, press the subtract from shape area option to cut the shape as you see below.
STEP-10 Select one of the shape, go to filter menu> blur> Gaussian Blur and set the radius to 1.2. This is how the image will look.
STEP-11 Now we are going to create eyes, which is pretty simple. Using the elliptical tool draw a small circle with the color code #99d6fe. Now apply the following layer style values, here I have used outer glow. Once you have aplied the values,press CTRL+J to duplicate it, after duplicating the layer move it to the other side.
STEP-12 Now we are going to create wings, to create this, use the rounded rectangle tool again with 5cm radius and draw it horizontally. Change the color of this shape to # bdb5f6 and set the opacity level to 50%.
STEP-13 Once you have done with this, open the layer style window and apply the following layer style values. Here I have used outer glow and stroke.
This is how the image will look after apply the layer style values.
STEP-14 Now we have to create smaller wings, To do that duplicate the big wing layer, transform it a smaller size by using CTRL+T accordingly to fit it below the big wing.
STEP-15 Once you have placed it right, duplicate this layer, again press CTRL+T to bring the transform tool right click on it and select the option flip vertical. Once you have flipped it, move it to the other side to complete the wing portion.
STEP-16 In this step we will create a tail, to do this, use the pen tool, short cut for pen tool is P. Draw a shape as shown below. Once you have drawn the shape, open the layer style window and apply the following layer style values. Here I have used OUTERGLOW and GRADIENT OVERLAY.
Thats it we have completed the tut, isn’t the android honeycomb looking beautiful. This is the final output.
