Photoshop Tutorial: Create A Battery Icon.

Hello friends, today in this Photoshop tutorial we are going to create a wonderful battery icon. You will learn how with the use of gradients and some lights we can create a beautiful icon, which pleases everybody’s eyes. Though it seems easy to create an icon, but lots and lots of research go into it. Ok now let’s move on to the tutorial.

STEP-1   Open a new document with width and height of 400 pixels respectively.

STEP-2   Pick up the ellipse tool from the tools palette and draw a shape as I have drawn below with the color code # e19769.

STEP-3   Double click on this layer and apply inner shadow.

STEP-4   Now create another shape as you see below, with the help of pen tool. Just press ‘P’ to bring in the pen tool as a short cut.

STEP-5   Now double click on this layer to bring in the layer style window and apply the gradient overlay values.

STEP-6   Pick up the rounded rectangle tool with 10 cm radius and color code # a25937 draw a shape as you see below.

STEP-7   Double click on this layer and apply inner glow values.

STEP-8   Now pick up the ellipse tool again from the tools palette and draw a shape at the top. See the image below.

STEP-9   Now again we will apply some gradient overlay values to this shape. To do that double click on this shape layer to bring in the layer style window and apply the gradient overlay values.

STEP-10   Create another oval shape at the bottom of the previous layer place it slightly downwards, and apply gradient overlay values.

STEP-11   In this step we will create the tip of the battery. To do that pick the ellipse tool again, and draw an oval shape at the top. See the image below.

STEP-12   Double click on this layer and apply gradient overlay values to this layer.

STEP-13   Still on the previous layer, hold ALT key and press the down arrow key several times, once it is done, select all these duplicate layers and press CTR+E to flatten the layers to one single layer, now place the original layer at the top of this flattened layer.

STEP-14   Now apply gradient overlay values to this layer.

STEP-15   Here we will give some shades, pick the pen tool and draw a shape as you see below. Once it is done, go to filter menu> Blur>Gaussian Blur and set the radius amount to 1.7.

STEP-16   Using the pen tool again draw a shape like this as you see below. Now go to filter menu>Blur>Gaussian Blur and set the radius amount to 8.5, and set the opacity to 75 %.

STEP-17   In this last step we will give some shiny shade, to do that use the pen and draw a shape as you see below with color code # FFFFFF. Set the opacity to 12 %.

That’s it we have completed the tutorial. This is the final preview of the image.

I hope you have liked this tutorial and learnt some techniques from it. We will be back with yet another good tutorial.
